Frequently Asked Questions

How are you structured?

Currently, we meet on Fridays for classes over the course of two semesters (fall & winter) throughout the school year. Each semester is split in two, 5-week sessions. There is a one week break between sessions. We are in the process of adding additional classes throughout the year.

We also have a winter showcase, spring science fair, end-of-the-year move up celebration, field day, beach day, mom’s only hang-outs, field trips and other meet-ups throughout the year in order to build our strong homeschool community. Please subscribe to our email list to receive the most up-to-date information about this exciting new programming and events!

Who is this co-op for?

We are open to all homeschooling families. Our classes are for children ages four-years-old and up. We offer a nursery for younger siblings ages three and under.

We make it a point to celebrate the beauty of the Black and Brown experience. We are a safe-haven for this demographic, meaning Black and Brown voices will be visible in ATHC’s leadership, teachers and students. However, we do not discriminate against any racial background. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate in our programming regardless of race, affiliation or religious background. We hope everyone will feel comfortable to learn with us!

What about allergies?

Able to Teach is highly aware of the need to be cautious and sensitive towards our friends who might live with allergies. For this reason, we are a completely nut-free group and ask about any additional allergies upon registration so we can ensure a safe time for all. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to ATHC leadership at abletoteachhomeschool@gmail.com.

Classes start promptly at 9 am and last until 12 pm. At noon, we transition to lunch and free-play. This optional time (following our classes) is for families to connect and build community with one another. We clean up around 1:30 pm and exit the building.

What is the cost?

Currently, there is a $50 registration fee to secure your family’s spot. Our tuition is $250/semester/family. This pays for your child’s classes, one parent or guardian’s background clearance, facility fees, supplies, and other miscellaneous expenses for our group. However, tuition will be increasing after 8/16/24. Payment installments are available upon request.

What curricula do you use?

Able to Teach prides itself on our tailor-made learning. All lessons are customized and curated by our extremely talented Lesson Planning Team!

What should I bring?

Feel free to bring a snack and drink. If you’d like to enjoy lunch with our group after classes, please bring an allergy-friendly lunch. All other supplies are included in your tuition. Therefore, you will not need any typical school supplies.

Where do you meet?

We meet in Pine Hill, NJ. Upon registration, you will receive the church address where we meet.

What is your faith-statement?

Able to Teach Homeschool Collective derives its name from its anchor verse, 2 Timothy 2:24-25: “A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth.”

Lessons are created with a worldview that aligns with the Christian Bible. This does not mean every lesson is Bible-based. However, the ATHC leadership and all class formation will be in line with and not in opposition to teachings from the Christian Bible. Prayer will also be a commonplace occurrence within the culture of this group.

It is important to note that it is not a requirement to be a Christian in order to join our group. We simply ask that you read and sign our faith statement agreeing to respect the religious views upon which this group is formed.
