I did something this fall…
I started the pilot to a small virtual co-op!!!
Quite honestly, for those who know me, this has been growing in my heart over the last few years. In fact, it previously kept getting delayed because of my own fears and hang ups and wanting to “get it JUST right”. All that got in the way.
Well, this past spring, around the time the pandemic was starting, my hubbie told me that by the time this fall rolled around, with everything shutting down and going virtual, I wouldn’t have any more excuses to put it off any longer.
And ya know what guys? He was right! #thanksbaby 😘
I’ve shared in previous blogs about my struggles to overcome my insecurity and doubt when it comes to the things I desire to do. It’s a weird dichotomy really. I always feel so encouraged when people tell me about how my own journey of homeschooling and becoming an author has inspired them to do X, Y, and Z. That’s just another reminder of God’s uncanny knack to use us to inspire ourselves right?!
In all honesty, many of the things I do, the posts I share, and the ventures I embark upon are riddled with fear, uncertainty, and a downright neediness for my Savior!
Anything that I do of any substance points to Him and His great power working in and through me! I can take no glory in any of this. He is who inspires me. He is who gives me what feels like these crazy ideas! He is the One who even blesses and helps me execute them! All praise is due to His glorious name!
So, with Curtis’ loving and swift kick in the pants, I got over myself and listened to him. And Jesus did the rest! 🙌🏾
I’m so happy to tell you that the 1st semester of the Able to Teach Homeschool Collective, this past fall, was more than anything I could have ever imagined!
Thank you Jesus! 🙌🏾
I’m so thankful to my husband for not accepting my wack excuses. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I’m so thankful for all the families who trusted their precious babies with me!
I’m currently working to finalize the plans for Semester 2 and will keep you posted on the progress. It starts back in mid January! Yahoooo!
But y’all pray for me ya hear? I really want these kiddos to enjoy their time and learn a ton, but it’s A LOT of work!
If you’re wondering what we studied, well, everything that I shared in Studying the Ancients: A 6-Week Study Guide – Part 1, in October, covered Cycle 1 of the first semester. Just so ya know, the collective is broken up into two semesters that are two cycles each.
As a matter of fact, I am overdue for another blog post that shares what we did in Cycle 2. I’ve just been a tad delayed in writing it due to a pressing LifeWay deadline I was finishing up right before Thanksgiving. Then, as soon as I turned that in, I had to focus my attention to the edits on my coloring activity book, which, by the way, is literally ALMOST completed!!! I’ll be sharing a free coloring page with you guys VERY soon! 😘 Plus, I’m going to need your help once it launches! I hope you’ll help spread the word and support lil’ ol’ me! LOL
Anywho…all that to say, stay tuned for more info in the coming weeks for what we will cover during Semester 2. I will be offering limited spaces for enrollment as well!
Oh, and check out a few pics of some of the activities we did during the 12 week semester. We mummified apples (baggies with baking soda, salt, and apples), and made pyramids when we studied Ancient Egypt, and we created Olympic Rings when we covered Ancient Greece.
Thanks for reading guys! Until next time…
Blessings,
Courtney
