Happy Father’s Day!
If you’re a dad, or if your spouse is a one or even if you’re the parent to an adult child who is a dad, I wish you and your family a joyous day of celebrating fatherhood!
This is a day in which the “man of the house” can hide out in his man cave, be relieved of the “honey-do list” and even kick back for an afternoon nap!
My husband, Curtis, started his Father’s Day celebration a bit early by taking not one but TWO naps yesterday! I wasn’t even mad at him! He works so hard for our family and I’m grateful for all the seen and unseen things does for us. I thank God for his life!
I wanted to let you know that I really felt impressed to give some extra love and support to dads in this world. I know that the days are long and the weeks can drag in this age of COVID-19. As a parent, it might be tempting to vegge out on social media or check out altogether! It takes an extra splash of stamina and focus to resist the temptation to play the sidelines in our families. So, to the dads who get into the daily fight on a regular basis to be present and love on your families and lead by example, my hat goes off to ya!
In this same vein, I wanted to DO something that would leave a lasting impact for fatherhood. I sought to find an organization that works to build and strengthen the family unit through fathers. Please don’t hear me knocking mothers (whether married or single), when I say this. There is so much grace that God bestows upon us to be and do all that we are!
However, I read something interesting by the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse. It stated, “when fathers positively engage with their toddlers by reading to them…their children read better, have more advanced vocabularies and communication skills.”
This is why I wanted to focus my aspirations of celebrating fathers-at-large by supporting and donating to an organization that is doing this work.
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 Father’s Day Weekend, when you buy 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘏𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 through my website, 𝐰𝐰𝐰.𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐲𝐛𝐝𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐩.𝐜𝐨𝐦, I’ve chosen to 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝟓𝟎% 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐭 from your purchase to 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 (𝐑𝐃𝐑), powered by Fathers Incorporated! This Atlanta, GA based non-profit is doing the work of supporting fathers reading to their children.
RDR’s website reads:
“RDR is aimed at elementary and middle school aged children (K-8) and their fathers/male caregivers with these 3 goals:
1) encouraging children to develop a love of reading
2) improving children’s literacy skills and educational outcomes
3) strengthening bonds between fathers/caregivers and their children”
Because this project’s target population is primarily African American and Latino children, I will also be donating one autographed copy of my book to one of the free libraries RDR has set up in the metro Atlanta area.
Please help me come alongside this organization today by purchasing a copy of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘏𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴, so we can ensure that RDR’s all important work continues!
Just so you know, I’m not receiving any compensation or any credit for showcasing this organization. Heck, they only probably learned that I even existed because of how many times I tagged them on my social media accounts tonight as I shared about my plans to support them in this way!
This first step of donating a portion of my book’s profits also got me thinking some more. Moving forward, I hope to make it a regular occurrence of donating to organizations such as RDR and the like. Please inbox me with suggestions for similar organizations and, if you’d like any books you purchase to be donated to RDR or ANY organizations with similar missions!
Remember, you 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 purchase 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘏𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 through my website 𝐰𝐰𝐰.𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐲𝐛𝐝𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐩.𝐜𝐨𝐦, this Father’s Day (6/21/20), for the 𝟓𝟎% 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 to go directly to 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝!
Follow 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 on Instagram @𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐚𝐝𝐬𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 or visit their website 𝐰𝐰𝐰.𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐚𝐝𝐬𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝.𝐨𝐫𝐠, to learn more about their mission and vision!
Thanks for your love and support of fatherhood!
𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲!
