Our

Classes

Younger Sibling Nursery

The nursery is a space for the younger siblings (ages 3 and under) of our group. The nursery is available to all families with children registered in at least one of our groups starting at Pre-K. Unfortunately, due to the structure of our group, we cannot accommodate families with children who only fall within the nursery age range.

Pre-K to Kindergarten

This is our liveliest group of little learners! These children are between the ages of 4 and 5 years old. This year they’re studing Geology, Tall Tales using Caldecott award-winning books, Gym, Robotics & Coding, Art, Gameschooling, Amazing Africa, Cultures Around the World, the Science of Winter, LEGO STEM, and The ABCs of Black History.

Lower Elementary

This class is full of 6 year olds who are eager to learn! They ask questions, get excited and are all around a fun group of kids! This year they will enjoy classes called The Ancients, There’s No Place Like Space, Gameschooling Math, Geology Rocks, Chemistry Matters, Art, Botley Robotics, Africa is Not a Country and Gym.

Upper Elementary

This class of 7 to 10 year olds is very bright and all about learning. They are also extremely inquisitve and highly engaged! This year, they will experience classes called Volcano Island, Underwater Science, Art, Gym, The Harlem Renaissance, Snap Circuts, The Vikings, Double Dutch, and Kingdoms of Africa.

Middle School

As of Fall 2024, this is our newly formed group of Middle Schoolers in grades 6 – 8th, ranging from roughly 11-13 years old. These students will study Spanish, Journalism, STEM Robotics, Loaded Logic, Art, Financial Literacy, and enjoy a bookclub for The Hobbit!

Envision

If our children can envision it, they can believe it!

At Able to Teach, envisioning greatness and every possibility is always on our minds! This is why it is vital for our children to see themselves in the careers, topics, and experiences they are exposed to. From custom curriculum highlighting the Black and Brown experience, to inspiring Career Days featuring professionals who look like them in a variety of fields, our children will never lack for Black excellence!

Our Co-op Structure

Are you a drop-off group?

Unfortunately, no.

However this is intentional. We truly desire to form a strong community amongst our families. One major way this is possible is for everyone to experience our co-op days, together!

Can we opt-out of a class?

No, because our goal is enrichment & exposure!

Currently, every group is offered three classes for every 5-week session (dependent upon interest and parent availability). Our goal is to offer a wide selection of classes so our kids will gain exposure to a broad variety of subjects. We shoot for enrichment through feeding our children’s love for learning!

Who are your teachers?

You are!

That is, every parent who registers their child will be called upon to fill in the gap in some way. Veteran and returning ATHC parents will be lead teachers, while others may be classroom helpers, and/or hall monitors and everything in between to ensure a smooth flow for our group. This is what puts the “Collective” into our name!

What is the cost and what does it cover?

There is a registration fee and tuition.

Currently, there is a $50 registration fee for the entire school year to secure your family’s spot. Our tuition is $250/semester/family. This pays for your child’s classes, one parent or guardian’s background clearance, facility fees, supplies, and other miscellaneous expenses for our group. Payment installments are available upon request.

Can I come for a visit even if we don’t join?

Absolutely!

You have the option to come for a one day site visit during our co-op year to see our group in action! You would need to schedule this in advance. Do to safety protocols, we do not accept walk-in site visits. We’d love to show off how amazing our group is, so if you’d like to schedule a site visit, please email abletoteachhomeschool@gmail.com, today!
