Wow!
This summer is truly flying by!
I can’t believe that this coming weekend already marks mid-August.
By God’s grace, we’ve had an amazing summer in the Dunlap household. The kiddies didn’t attend a formal summer camp this year. But I was sure to infuse each week with fun and sun. We did tons of excursions, outings, meet ups, beach trips, played tennis, saw two Shakespearen plays at a theater, and attended a sunflower festival!
I’m currently writing this blog from our hotel room at the Kalahari Resort and Waterpark. I’m here with my mother and sister-in-love, my own kiddos and my two beautiful nieces. Unfortunately, the hubby had to work so he missed out on this mini getaway.
It’s been great to enjoy the waterpark and experience so many memories with the kids and their cousins. I know for a fact this time will not last long as they grow.
In a way, this trip was our last hurrah before countdown to our new school year. We do have a few more outings and meet ups with our homeschool group and friends beforehand, but this will be our last “away away” sort of trip before we are back in the groove of things.
In fact, we are less than a week away from the close of registration for the in-person co-op I’ll be leading this year. I’m excited, nervous and in disbelief that this is a real thing that is actually happening.
I can look back over old journal entries, read old notes on my phone and see the progression of this dream that God has grown in my heart. Years of praying, desiring to see a community like this in my area and hoping that it would one day be real, are all about to materialize.
Of course, there has been plenty of doubt…I’ve wondered if it even matters. I’ve asked myself if this is something families could even benefit from. Am I spinning my wheels for nothing? Am I doing all this in vain?
But what I continue to be brought back to is the fact that this was never my own dream. I truly believe God is the one who has ordered my steps. He has put this all together. He has been the one who has fueled this passion. He has stoked the flames of me wanting to build something bigger than me or my own family that would serve the greater homeschool community.
This is all His work!
So, as we move towards the countdown to the close of registration for our first in-person year, would you be praying for us? Would you pray the right families join? Would you pray that those who do join our group “buy” into the vision as well? Pray for a fruitful year of wonder, learning and adventure together.
Pray that we will show love and grace to one another as we grow. Because there will be growing pains. But also pray that these will only help to further solidify our commitment to educating our kids together so they can benefit from the wealth of knowledge amongst us.
This is my prayer for this coming year. Will it be yours? My hope is our prayers will please God and He will do more than we ask or imagine!
If you are homeschooling your children in the South Jersey or Philadelphia or surrounding areas, we’d love for you to consider joining Able to Teach Homeschool Collective! Here’s the registration link: https://form.jotform.com/221855370391154
co-op and we met 2 new families! 🎉
I’m also more than happy to set up a time to share more of the group’s logistics and specifics for how things will be run. Please comment on this post and I’ll be sure to get back to you!
