Oh my gosh y’all!
My first ever Kids’ Poetry Contest is in the books!
I cannot believe this crazy late-night idea actually came together. PHEW! lol
When I tell ya I wasn’t sure what the heck I was doing, but knew that I wanted to do something to celebrate National Poetry Month, I didn’t realize what a huge undertaking I was embarking upon.
Literally, on the 31st of March, as I slept, the idea came to me.
Quite honestly, that’s how many of my “crazy” ideas come to me…read The Rumble Hunters, and you’ll know EXACTLY what I mean! lol
Anywho, one month and 13 amazing kid poets later, here we are!
Tonight is the BIG finale!
Who will it be???
The judges’ scores are in, and I’m going LIVE on Instagram to announce who will be published in the next issue of Melanated Gold Homeschool Magazine! I’m soooo excited! These poems were phenomenal! I was literally blown away by the talent of these kids.
I’m asking you to help support these young people and tune in TONIGHT on Instagram at 8pm EST to cheer our semifinalists on. They’ve been invited to read their poems live. Afterwards, I’ll be announcing the winner. Then, we will hear from the immaculate Alfrea Riley Moore of Melanated Gold Homeschool Magazine. Alfrea will share her mission and vision in starting Melanated Gold and she’ll give some congratulatory remarks to our kid poets.
